What’s A Pelvic Floor?

Hello!! My name is Jill Burkhard and I’m a Doctor of Physical Therapy who specializes in the pelvic floor! The pelvic floor is a super important group of muscles at the base of your pelvis that are responsible for helping you poop, pee, and have sex. If they don’t work properly, they can cause lower back/hip/pelvic pain, incontinence and other issues that I will dive deeper into.
I am passionate about the pelvic floor because it really affects your well being if you cannot use the bathroom properly or have issues after surgery, childbirth or menopause. These problems are super common but not normal and I love helping people learn more about their bodies and fix long term issues! In this inservice we will talk about the pelvic floor function, bladder and bowel health, and most importantly learn exercises you can do to help your pelvic floor function properly. All genders and ages are welcome as all of us have a pelvic floor and can benefit!
